Islamic-Tribal Democracy: A gift from the New World Order to Iraqi people!

Mohsen Ebrahimi

It seems that the USA attacked Iraq, toppled a dictator, organised free elections in which Islamists won a landslide victory and nationalists came in second, and established democracy. Finally the dreams of the Iraqi people have come true! The political message in all this is that internationally, the USA is the sole superpower with the duty of bringing freedom and prosperity to all corners of the globe! And in Iraqi society, the majority are Muslims eager to live under an Islamic regime!

Western journalists, along the lines of Pentagon-led propaganda, have been extremely busy portraying Iraq as a tribal-religious society. Their reports on Iraq’s recent ‘election’ were a telling example: Shiites in the south and Kurds in the north participated actively in the election. Shiites won the majority of the seats. Kurds came in second. Sunnis boycotted the election. Arabs and Turkmens …

With such a distorted image, one may be convinced that Iraqis are a bunch of uncivilized people alien to any kind of secularism; they are metamorphosed individuals belonging to either religious or tribal sects; they are backward people trapped in their religious-tribal mentality; they are individuals with no modern and secular aspirations and so on and so forth. Henceforth, these people must be thankful to Bush and Blair for their “shock and awe” operation, for replacing Saddam with Ayatollah Sistani and for dropping a religious-tribal democracy subsequent to their cruise missiles and cluster bombs!

No, there isn’t an iota of truth in this. The majority of Iraqi people are not tribal-religious folk eager to live under an Islamic-tribal regime! The recent “election” was by no means a true reflection of what Iraqis want for their society. The election in Iraq was everything but free! It was an orchestrated political manipulation of world public opinion organised by the holy union of the White House, mercenary academics and mainstream journalism. This is the New World Order’s version of democracy specifically pre-cooked for the people of the Middle East. In such a version of democracy, the people in the Middle East don’t deserve individual rights, even at the minimal level available under Thatcher, Reagan and George W. Bush.

It is unimaginable to have an election - let alone a free one - while people are caught in the crossfire between the American military, killers of the Islamic gangs of Zargawi, militias of the Supreme Assembly of the Islamic Revolution, hooligans of Moqtada Al-Sadr and remnants of the Baath party criminals. Even a ridiculous version of democracy is impossible in such a situation!

What happened in Iraq was neither an election nor a free contest among political parties. It was an unannounced internationally organised political swindle in order to put together a coalition of warlords, tribal chieftains and the heads of Islamic terrorists as a political identity. Only in an international mafia-type swindling can one call a competition among Islamic and tribal gangs - that either take orders from the Islamic Republic of Iran or are nurtured by the Pentagon and White House - as free parliamentary elections. Only in such an Islamic-Pentagon led democracy, can a former mercenary of the Pentagon and yesterday’s embezzlers like Mr. Chalabi count on becoming president!

Following the “election” in Iraq and the rise to power of Islamic-nationalist criminals, George W. Bush and Tony Blair congratulated the people of the Middle East for the triumph of democracy. It reveals the true content of the New World Order’s version of democracy for the Middle East.

The Iraqi people never had a free and secure environment in which political parties with political programmes - not tribal and religious warlords with guns and intimidation - competed for power. If that were the case, the majority of people in Iraq would have definitely chosen security, prosperity, individual rights and secular values over the dark scenario of the rule of tribal-Islamic gangs. Needless to say, Iraqis live next door to the notorious theocracy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They are quite familiar with the misery of 70 million people under an Islamic regime.

With the sham election in Iraq, the bloody confrontation between the two major pillars of international terrorism, i.e., the USA and political Islam, among different factions of Islamists, and nationalists will not end. Instead, it will take new forms. Those who have destroyed Iraqi civil society and transformed Iraq into a breeding ground for the most notorious killers of the turn of the century will continue their ruinous role in new forms of coalitions and swindling.

As a final word, the first step for a free and humane Iraq is freedom from these two pillars of international terrorism: USA militarism and political Islam. The most basic precondition for a free election in Iraq is that the USA military, all Islamic, nationalist and tribal gangs are abolished from the society! This is the major challenge still facing the people of Iraq.
