I am a health care
technologist. I try, at every opportunity, to speak to anyone
about Sharia Law and treatment
of immigrant women in Canada. One of the things that
has stunned me is the lack of awarenes
and
interest from some Muslim women. It was brought to my attention that
prayer services at the mosques do
not concern themselves with teaching men about the laws in Canada
regarding the treatment of women.
There must be some way to encourage Muslim men and women to become
involved. Please keep pushing against the bringing of Sharia Law
into any country.
Thank you.

Subject: Congratulations For A Great Victory Against Religion And Reaction And Violence
Dear Homa
I often think about what you fought for and accomplished. You saved a lot of human beings, particularly women and children, from being subject to religious reaction and superstition and violence. You showed the world that we CAN organize people against barbarism of religious power and politics. This can be beginning of a universal movement against religion and reaction. You also defeated the racist theory and practice of relative centralism and multiculturalism. You reminded the world of such things as universal rights and freedom. Universal rights of women and children.
History will always remember you for taking political Islam and religious reaction head on and defeting it. This is greatest victory against reaction and stupification and religious violence and religion all together, after French revolution and October revolution. I am delighted and amazed what you just accomplished. You defeated Islam and religion and reaction in Canada and world at large. Many congratulations from bottom of my heart. I hope to work with you and help you in your fight against religion and religious violence against woman, children, and humans at large. Your fight for a better world.
Congratulations.

Homa Jan,
I want to congratulate you on your victory. Finally, your efforts have been rewarded and secularism and women's rights have more protection in this world. This is a great victory for women of Middle Eastern dissent in Canada (who were the first victims of this arhcaic system) and an important step in securing hope for women around the globe. This has, I'm sure, not only dissapointed the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice and their all male board, but also the ranks of Islamists around the world, who are now witness to the failure of their pet project in the Canada. Way to go!!!

Thank you very much for inducing Ontario's Prime Ministre McGuinty to ban all religious arbitratin in Canada's largest province.Your victory is very important indeed for Europe, because many Muslim fundamentalists want to implement Sharia in European laws. Many Europeans were very wary and frightened that the use of Sharia could settle some Muslim family disputes in Canada. This decision would have had serious repercussions for all of us who are struggling against Islamism in Europe.Thank you very much indeed ! Secular law must remain above all religions. Period. Ms. Homa Arjomand ,
I would like to congratulate you on yours, and every humanists, mission of preserving the ideals and values of secular democracy. The final decision of the government on the appeal to institute Sharia law in Canada is a big blow to those intolerant Muslims who, from this incident, will learn that their world and the modern world are completey incompatible. They wish to export Islamic revolution from where it once started, Iran, to the west. I only hope this can set a revolutionary platform for the Middle East. If it happened somewhere as small as Ontario, it must be expanded and carried abroad.
Thank you.

said to be very against the principle, which is good. Pat and I
would really like to keep in touch - and not just because of the

Perhaps we could meet for coffee one day I have a friend who is

Hello.
I am delighted that McGuinty has decided to reject sharia in arbitration in Ontario. I wrote letters to many politicians, attended panel discussions and protested in the rain last week. But I must say that I was surprised that he announced a plan to overturn all faith-based arbitration in Ontario. I fully support the idea, but I worry that the suddenness of the announcement has further galvanized forces in favour of religious arbitration. Is there a strategy to support the Premier in what will possibly become a legal battle? If you know of any groups dealing with this in Ottawa, please let me know. I would like to get involved to make sure these recent decisions actually see the light of day.
Thank you and congratulations!

Subject: [Bulk] The victory over religious arbitration
Hello Homa:
Heartiest congratulations to you! Your huge amount of work to stop sharia arbitration has paid off splendidly. And then there is the added benefit, inevitable if justice is to be respected, that no other religion's law will be allowed to supersede Ontario family law.
Perhaps the NDP will start pushing for the good ideas they recommended -- in a press release, I believe -- to help women be better informed and able to insist on their equal rights. This approach sounds so worthwhile.
The support you were able to get from Europe was wonderful. It surely had a large impact on our government, and I think the publicity in Canada has helped people to clarify this problem of religions trying to interfere with hard won human rights. Humanists everywhere are especially aware of this problem, and appreciate your strong commitment to womens' rights. I like to hope that this success in Ontario will spread beyond Canada as people become better informed.
I hope you can put your feet up and have a rest now, even if only a short one. And thank you again for all that you have done. Most of us don't recognize that we need to defend democracy every day.

Dear Homa Arjomand,
Congratulations for your courageous victory against the Shariah law in Ontario. Canadians, and feminists, humanists and progressists all over the world are proud of you!
The reject by the Premier was one of the best news I have heard for a long time.
All the best to you and your family.

Madame,
Je tiens à vous féliciter et à vous remercier
pour le combat que vous avez livré et remporté
contre l'introduction de la charia en Ontario,
qui menaçait toutes les femmes d'ici et d'ailleurs.
