We Condemn the Assassination of Benazir Bhutto
at the Hands of Political Islam

On Thursday, December 27, 2007 an Islamic suicide bomber blew himself up among a crowd of hundreds of people causing the death of Benazir Bhutto, the leader of Pakistan People's Party who were on an electoral tour. The explosion has led to the killing and wounding of tens of citizens.

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto was expected, even by Benazir Bhutto herself. Pakistan is boiling under the heat of conflict between the global barbaric terrorist poles and their local representatives. The masses of Pakistan today are passing through a crucial phase of the bloody conflict between the forces of terrorism; the terrorism of Political Islam from one side, and the terrorism of Pervez Musharraf’s state, a close ally of the United States and one of the pillars of George Bush’s "War on Terror".

The method by which Benazir Bhutto was murdered, her previous exposure to similar assassination attempt and, her confrontation with Political Islam during the electoral campaign, clearly indicate that those who carried out this assassination are the forces of Political Islam; Al Qaida and other criminal Islamic groups in Pakistan.

The Left Worker-communist Party of Iraq LWPI, strongly condemns and denounces this barbaric assassination of Benazir Bhutto and denounces all crimes of political assassination. At a time we stress; the unconditional and unrestricted political freedoms for all political forces, safety and security for the people, and detaching the society of Pakistan from the two poles of terrorism: Political Islamic terrorism and state terrorism, we appeal to the deprived masses in Pakistan not to be drawn into the polarization of those two criminal and reactionary forces which want to turn them into fuel for their own quest for power and control of the society. We call upon the masses of Pakistan and the whole region to struggle, and stand up firmly against Political Islam as well as the tyranny and terrorism of the state.
